How to Change What Your BUG Clicker Character Says
Edit click, idle and reminder lines in the BUG Clicker Line Editor, play lines in order, style the speech bubble and edit lines on a shared character.

Everything your character says lives in the Line Editor. Open it from Settings → Customize → Line Editor, or from the tray menu under Customize. The stage on the left previews the bubble as you type (checked against BUG Clicker 1.18.5 for Windows).
The three kinds of lines

Add or change a line
- Pick the kind of line, then press ＋ Add line.
- Type the line. Enter starts the next one, and ▶ previews the bubble.
- To change a line, click it and type. To find one in a long list, use the search box at the top.
Leave special lines empty and the default lines are used. Default lines follow the app's language, so they switch when you change the language in Settings → About.
Make it talk more or less
How often idle lines appear is set per character in Character Studio → Motion → Idle. Delete every idle line if you want it to stay quiet.
Say lines in order instead of at random
Turn on Play lines in order in Settings → Customize or in the Line Editor. Lines then play from the top of the list and start over at the end. Handy for a short story or a joke with a setup and a punchline.
Style the speech bubble
In Character Studio → Bubble you can choose:
- Shape: box, hand-drawn, pixel or subtitle, plus animated shapes such as thought, flashback or shout.
- Color and font: a color set or your own colors, a PC font or your own
.ttf. If it says "Hard to read", make the background darker or lighter. - Motion and text effects: how the bubble appears and how the text types out. Effects marked "Caution" flash. Settings → Customize → Reduce motion turns these off for all characters.
Save a look as a style, then pick a style per line in the Line Editor.
Editing a character someone shared with you
If the creator exported it with Only allow adding new lines, you cannot change its name, art, parts, motion or original lines. You can still add your own lines and edit or delete those freely.
No bubble appears at all
The creator may have turned off speech bubbles. Turn on Show speech bubbles in the Line Editor, or press Turn on bubbles in Character Studio → Bubble.
