BUG Clicker Not Working? Fixes for Common Problems

Pick your problem below. Each fix follows BUG Clicker's own settings and patch notes, checked against version 1.18.5 for Windows (October 30, 2026). This is an unofficial guide: for anything it does not solve, use the official contact form on bugndev.web.app or @BUGnDEV on X.

First, update. Many problems below were fixed in recent versions. Open Settings → About → Updates and press Check now. The app also checks by itself every 6 hours and installs the update the next time it starts.

The app or its windows

• Character Studio or the Line Editor opens black, blank or closes right away → fix a black or closing window
• Nothing appears when I open the exe → wait about 30 seconds on the first launch, then check the hidden tray icons (the ^ next to the clock). Details are in the same guide.
• I want it to start with my computer → start BUG Clicker automatically

The character on the desktop

• My character disappeared, or an imported character does not show → bring a character back
• It talks without a speech bubble, or I want to change what it says → edit lines and bubbles
• It does not react to music or typing → open Settings → Reactions. The "Typing detection" row says why it is not working. If antivirus blocked it, add BUG-Clicker.exe as an exception. In games running as administrator, run BUG Clicker as administrator too. For music, check that the Volume bar moves, and if it only fails with earphones, pick a device such as Stereo Mix under Sound source.

Making a character

• Back hair does not move with the head → make back hair follow the head
• I cannot find where to add ears, a tail or wings, or they are missing after sharing → ears, tails and wings
• My PSD loads wrong (white box, jumping face, gap at the neck) → drop it into the free PSD checker, which explains each problem and can fix most of them in one click.

Streaming and sharing

• Showing the character on stream → use BUG Clicker in OBS
• Importing a .cvclk file someone sent you → open Settings → Share → Import and drop the file in. The creator's terms of use show before it imports.

Getting the app

• The download is blocked or will not start → download problems
• Is there an Android or iPhone version? → BUG Clicker on phones

Open Settings → About → Troubleshooting → Make a problem report file. It makes a zip with the version, Windows details and error logs only, not your images or lines. Send it through the contact form on the official site.
